Critical Care

Does your pet need urgent care? We’re ready and able to assist!

Like it or not, pet emergencies can happen at any time. Being prepared in advance can vastly improve the outcome for your loved one. Our hospital is outfitted with modern equipment, allowing us to handle any urgent medical, diagnostic and surgical care need your pet may experience, at a moment’s notice. We’re prepared to get the situation under control so that we can focus on getting your pet back on his or her feet again.

Recognizing the signs of a pet emergency isn’t always easy. Here are a few things to keep an eye out for when evaluating your companion’s condition:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Choking
  • Vomiting or diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
  • Bleeding
  • Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
  • Broken bones or fractures
  • Ingestion of a toxic substance or foreign object
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Swollen abdomen
  • Lameness
  • Lethargy
  • Seizures or convulsions
  • Loss of consciousness

If you notice any of these things, we recommend giving us a call right away so that we can assess the situation. For minor cases, we may be able to advise you on care that you can deliver at home. For more serious matters, we may ask that you bring your pet in for a more detailed evaluation. Calling ahead also lets us prepare the hospital and our staff so we are ready to step in and help the moment you arrive.

Of course, even if your pet isn’t exhibiting any of the above symptoms, if you feel he or she needs medical attention, go with your gut. Nobody knows your companion better than you do, and we’d always prefer that you are safe rather than sorry.

We sincerely hope you’ll never face the need for urgent veterinary care, but we want you to know where to turn if that moment does arise.
