Medical Director
Dr. Virginia Cunningham, DVM, CVA
Dr. Cunningham’s passion for veterinary medicine began in her hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia, where she was actively involved in 4-H. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Virginia Tech before obtaining her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. After several years of practice in Buffalo, NY, she returned to Virginia, where she has spent numerous years providing both general and emergency veterinary care.
Beyond her expertise in animal health, Dr. Cunningham leads a vibrant life outside the clinic. She and her husband enjoy swimming, gardening, and watching sci-fi movies while homeschooling their three children. She’s also brushing up on her Spanish and working with her husband to restore a classic 1970s Camaro! Her home is filled with love for animals, including two dogs, three cats, two bearded dragons, and a collection of rabbits and fish.
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Michael Braunstein, VMD, CVA
With more than 30 years of experience in veterinary medicine, Dr. Michael Braunstein brings a wealth of knowledge, skill, and compassion to every patient he treats. His passion for animal care began at a young age, when he worked in veterinary hospitals cleaning cages and assisting with patient care—experiences that confirmed his lifelong calling to veterinary medicine.
Dr. Braunstein earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where he trained under world-renowned specialists and mentors. His early career included hands-on work with racetrack equine veterinarians and the Hershey Herd Farms, giving him a strong foundation in both large and small animal medicine.
For more than three decades, Dr. Braunstein owned and operated two successful veterinary hospitals before moving to Dallas, Texas, where he practiced at one of the city’s leading hospitals. In 2011, he became certified in veterinary acupuncture, expanding his ability to help pets with complex conditions, particularly those involving lameness and neurological issues—areas that remain his professional focus today.
Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Braunstein is dedicated to giving back to his community. He has volunteered at numerous rabies vaccination clinics and often visited local high schools to encourage students to explore careers in veterinary medicine.
When he’s not in the hospital, you’ll often find Dr. Braunstein walking his dogs with his better half, cheering on his beloved Philadelphia sports teams, or traveling to enjoy classic rock and blues concerts.
